Subiaco to Lavaca 106KRWGPS map — RUSA Permanent route #2022
This route is an out-and-back that goes along AR 22. This is really just for training and I don’t particularly like riding it. Although the pavement is generally good and the shoulders are among the widest in the state, the highway is busy and not the most scenic thing in the world. There are better routes. Please ride those.
Arkansas River Valley 134KRWGPS map — RUSA Permanent route #2075
This route is a bit longer and does go along AR 22, but only for 30 miles. The rest is all along less trafficked and more scenic roads. Lots of farmland is back here down in the floodplain, or “the bottoms” as we call it around here. The one major climb (1.5 miles – 6-7% grade) is a hill that the river was forced to go around.
Oark General Store 126KRWGPS map — RUSA Permanent route #2137
A route of superlatives. This route starts in Subiaco, home of the only Benedictine monastery in Arkansas, goes across the longest bridge to cross the Arkansas River, and ends at the Oark General Store, the longest running store in the state. Try the homemade pie!
To Subiaco the Long Way 103KRWGPS map — RUSA Permanent route #2123
When I feel the urge to go home via bike and have a handful of hours to do it in, I do this route. The scenery isn’t too bad. Lots of farmland and there’s not too much traffic. Plus, there’s a beautiful view of Mt. Magazine and Mt. Nebo the whole time.
To Dardanelle the Long Way 103KRWGPS map — RUSA Permanent route #2124
This route is the reverse of Subiaco the Long Way.
